February 9, 2007
This is to be our final posting on this site, we are both finding it hard to believe that eight and a half months have past since our arrival in Mexico City. We’ll be in London on the evening of Thursday February 22nd 2007, and we’ll be having a few welcome home beers in Waxy O’Connors on Rupert Street, W1 (map). So if you fancy a pint after work then just come along any time after 6pm.
We’ve covered a lot of ground, and had some unforgettable experiences, and just looking back at some of the stories we’ve written, photos we’ve taken and silly videos we’ve made It has made us realise how priceless these things will be to us in X number of years time. You can now find all our stories in the Archive, or for a summary of the whole trip see the post “Never go on trips with anyone you do not love” below.
Quitting our jobs, leaving family and friends behind is never an easy decision to make, and we talked about it for a long time. In fact, ever since we got together it was a subject that kept cropping up and eventually it had to surface and a decision had to be made, go or stay. We both new that it was “Go” for many reasons, firstly to have the opportunity to spend so much time together, and to see parts of the world we’d never seen before. We knew when we made that decision that we would not regret it, and we would have the time of our lives, we have had that time, now it’s time to get back to the “real world” as my mum kindly reminds us.
The other night as we supped local rum on our balcony here in Grenada we talked about our journey and looked at the photos from the start of the trip, we were both astounded at how fat, white and pastey we both were, why didn’t you tell us this when we left?? The photo on the left here is us in Mexico City on 1st June 2006, and below is us 256 days later drinking rum in Grenada.
So if you have a bit of time check out the summary of our trip “Never go on trips with anyone you do not love“. And don’t forget our compiled list of “Journey Statistics“. Plus below is our final Video of the trip, this one is from Antarctica, it took us a long while to go through all our photos and videos, so finally here we are…
